A very rapid drop in blood sugar will also spur migraines.  2. Drink enough. Dehydration will spur migraine attacks.  3. Enough sleep. Lack of sleep or too much sleep will spur migraine attacks.  4. Avoid food or drink that can trigger a migraine attack. Foods that are preserved, too salty, or too sweet can spur migraine attacks. Alcoholic drinks and soda can also trigger migraine attacks.  5. Mild exercise can help prevent migraine attacks. Some relaxation techniques can also help prevent the onset of migraine attacks.  6. If migraine attacks persist we can be given anti-pain medication as abortive therapy for example: paracetamol, mefenamic acid, or ibuprofen.  If attacks occur frequently, you can take preventative medications for migraine attacks (eg amitriptyline, flunarizine). Therapy is individualized. Discuss the therapy that suits you best with your treating doctor.
